Reigning African football Queen Asisat Oshoala has been nominated for the 2022 Women’s Ballon d’Or award.
The Super Falcons of Nigeria striker was selected alongside 19 others for the prestigious award.
The organisers released the list off the shortlisted players on Friday, as Oshoala becomes the first-ever African woman football player to make the Women’s Ballon d’Or shortlist.
The 27-year-old helped Barcelona Femeni win a third consecutive Primera Division last season, as she also won the Pichichi award for highest goal scorer with 20 goals in the female Primera Division.
Oshoala was also named as African Women’s Player of the Year for a record 5th time last month.
