Sheikh Ajilogbaasho Urges Leaders to Uphold Justice, Fairness

Leaders across various positions of authority have been counselled to adopt fairness, trust, and justice as core values in order to enjoy the confidence of the people and Allah’s mercy.

An Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ibrahim Salmon-Ajilogbaasho, said this while delivering the 3rd edition of Sabiganna Annual Ramadan Lecture at the Palace Square, Iganna in Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo state.

The event was hosted by the Sabiganna of Iganna Kingdom Oba Saliu Azeez.

Speaking on the theme: ‘Politics in Islam, Problems and Prospects’, Sheikh Ajilogbaasho highlighted the link between politics and Islam, stating that politics is fundamental to all human endeavours.

The Islamic scholar used multiple analogies to explain the interconnectivity between the affluent and the impoverished, as well as between the governing and the governed.

He emphasized on the fact that the societal adoption of fairness, equity, trust, and justice would facilitate the determination of what is just and right, thereby fostering peace and tranquility.

Sheikh Ajilogbaasho, who called upon leaders in positions of authority to exemplify moral integrity, also urged the led to embrace loyalty and dedication to their leaders.

According to him, politics in Islam laid emphasis on fostering symbolic interactions and maintaining harmonious relationships between leaders and their followers

Sheikh Ajilogbaasho reminded everyone to keep in mind the day of judgment when their stewardship will be assessed, highlighting the need for a change in behaviour.

The Chairman of Iwajowa Local Government, Hon. Oyewumi Abiodun, and a legal expert, Barrister Rasheed Salami, who served as Chairman on the occasion, praised Sabigana for putting together the Ramadan program and distributing palliatives to over 200 widows in the council area.

They observed that the guest speaker had enlightened the public on managing their affairs in a fair and just manner, without compromising Islamic principles.

They encouraged the community members to uphold godliness, fairness, and justice in their interactions with others to foster a perfect society

In a goodwill message, Elero of Ilero, Oba Wasiu Saka Olokolonigi, encouraged Nigerians to observe the rules and regulations of the holy month of Ramadan and to uphold the principles of fairness, equity, and justice, during and after the holy month, in accordance with the exemplary conduct of Prophet Muhammad.

The lecture which took place under the auspices of the Chief Imam of Iganna land, Sheikh Surakat Aibinu, attracted notable attendees including Sheikh Ibrahim Al falaqi, Bajigan of Ilaji Ile Oba Lawal Oyedele Alebiosu, Amuni of Ijio land Oba Mudashiru Oyewobi, Alhaji Arikeuyo Abdul Rasaq, the Sabiganna-in-council led by High Chief Muraina Adekunle, the Basorun of Iganna, and the Baálè-in-council.
