80 Muslims Benefited from N12m Zakat in Ibadan

About 80 people have benefited from the 2026 Zakat Distribution held at the Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi Central Mosque, Ibadan.

Each recipient was given ₦150,000, bringing the total distributed to ₦12 million.

The organiser of the exercise, Alhaji Ismail Saka, described the gesture as a growing commitment to the Islamic obligation of wealth sharing among the Muslim community in Ibadan.

The Chairman on the Occasion, Barrister Abdulwaheed Bello, charged beneficiaries to deploy the funds for lawful purposes, expressing optimism that prudent use of the money could turn some of today’s recipients into future Zakat contributors before the next Ramadan.

Speaking at the event, Islamic scholar Sheikh Fadlu Rahman described Zakat as a compulsory act of charity, noting that it serves as a mechanism for wealth redistribution within society.

He added that specific conditions and a minimum threshold must be met before a Muslim becomes liable to pay.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the organisers and philanthropists behind the exercise.
