The Sabiganna of Iganna, Oba Azeez Oyemonla, has assured indigenes and residents of intensified security measures across Iganna Kingdom.
The monarch gave the assurance in a goodwill message to sons and daughters of the town as Muslims prepare to celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir festival.
Oba Oyemonla said the palace, in collaboration with Baales, traditional chiefs, the local government authorities and security agencies, had begun efforts to strengthen security architecture within Iganna and surrounding towns to guarantee a peaceful festive period.
The traditional ruler noted that the measures became necessary in view of growing security concerns across the country, which he said had created anxiety among many people intending to travel home for the celebration.
He also expressed sadness over the recent abduction incident in Oriire Local Government Area, describing the development as unfortunate and painful, while praying for the quick release of the victims.
The monarch, however, reassured indigenes planning to return home for the festival that proactive steps were being intensified to ensure the safety of lives and property throughout the period and beyond.
Oba Oyemonla also advised travellers to exercise caution during their journeys, avoid night travel and remain vigilant against suspicious movements and unidentified drivers on the roads.
He prayed for peaceful celebrations, continued unity and progress in Iganna Kingdom.
