Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to working with traditional institutions towards the progress and development of all towns and communities in the state.
Governor Makinde gave the assurance at the 2025 Iganna Community Development Councils Omo Aloba Fiesta, held at the Baptist Primary School Field, Oke Afin, Iganna in Iwajowa Local Government Area of the state.
Represented by the Chairman of Iwajowa Local Government Area, Honourable Abiodun Oyewumi, Governor Makinde said that working closely with monarchs including the Sabiganna of Iganna, Oba Saliu Azeez, would accelerate development and improve the living standards of the people.
He appealed to all sons and daughters of Iganna at home and in the diaspora to remain united, noting that sustainable progress can only be achieved in an atmosphere of commitment to peace and harmony by all and sundry.
Governor Makinde also extended his greetings to Oba Azeez on the celebration of this year’s Omo Aloba Day.
In his remarks, the Royal Father of the Day, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, called for unity among the people of Iganna, urging them to rally round the Sabiganna in achieving the community’s collective aspirations.
Oba Owoade also pledged his continued support for the monarch and the town.
The host, Oba Azeez, explained that the Omo Aloba Fiesta was aimed at reinforcing the identity of the people, celebrate their rich cultural heritage, and honour the heroic deeds of their ancestors.
Oba Azeez encouraged all residents of Iganna to proudly identify themselves as Omo Aloba, while calling for support from well meaning Nigerians to the development of the town.
Earlier, the National Chairman of Iganna Community Development Council, Chief Olu Ogunjimi, said the celebration symbolized the strong bond shared by descendants of Omo Aloba and reflects their collective vision for a more prosperous and united kingdom.
He also expressed gratitude to everyone whose efforts contributed to the success of the event.
During this year’s Omo Aloba Day Fiesta in Iganna, two foremost broadcasters in Oyo State, the Otunba Agbedegbeyo of Iganna, who is also the General Manager of Pensioners’ FM, Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu and Yeye Agbedegbeyo of Iganna, Chief Olutayo Faleti of Fresh FM, were specifically recognised and showered with dedicated Iwure from the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade and the Sabiganna for their sound mastry and use of Yoruba Language to promote culture and tradition.

Among dignitaries present at the fiesta were Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District, Senator Buhari Abdul Fatai, the Father of the Day, Hon. Remi Oseni, who is also a member of the house of representatives and a Public Affairs Analyst on Pensioners’ FM, Mr. Lukman Animashaun.
