The Alabidun Muslim Community Ibadan, AMCI, New Airport, Alakia, Oyo State, has urged politicians and political office seekers to emulate the sacrificial spirit, integrity and sense of responsibility demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim as Muslims celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.
The community gave the advice in an Eid message signed by its Ameer, Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu, and Secretary, Mallam Mikail Atobajaye.
AMCI advised political actors against making deceptive promises ahead of the 2027 general election, stressing that leadership should be seen as a sacred trust and not an avenue for personal ambition.
The group noted that the worsening socio-economic challenges in the country require sincere leadership and policies that would directly improve the living conditions of the masses.
According to AMCI, Prophet Ibrahim fulfilled his covenant with Allah through obedience, sacrifice and integrity, virtues which leaders at all levels should emulate in governance.
AMCI also urged politicians to reduce the cost of governance and prioritise people-oriented programmes capable of alleviating poverty and economic hardship.
The Islamic community further encouraged Nigerians to embrace perseverance, prayer and patience in the face of present difficulties, describing the life of Prophet Ibrahim, Prophet Isma’il and Hajar as examples of faith and endurance.
The group also appealed to wealthy individuals to extend love and support to the less privileged during the festive period by sharing food and other necessities.
AMCI concluded with prayers for peace, security and economic stability in Nigeria, while urging citizens to continue praying for leaders and coexist peacefully irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.
