The Alabidun Muslim Community, AMCI, New Airport, Alakia, Ibadan, has called on the Inspector-General of Police and military authorities to strengthen security operations and deploy more surveillance assets to vulnerable communities in Oyo State following the recent abduction of pupils, students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.
The community made the appeal in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu, and Secretary, Mallam Mikhail Atobajaye, after an emergency meeting of its Executive Committee in Ibadan.
AMCI specifically urged security agencies to intensify ongoing tactical operations towards securing the immediate and safe release of the victims still being held in captivity.
The group acknowledged efforts by the Oyo State Police Command, including reported moves to block escape routes around the Old Oyo National Park corridor, but stressed that urgent and sustained action remained necessary to prevent further attacks.
AMCI condemned the attacks on Community Grammar School and L.A. Primary School in Esiele, alongside Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Yawota, describing the incidents as a horrific assault on education, humanity and peace in Oyo State.
It also expressed sadness over the reported killing and beheading of a Mathematics teacher, Mr. Michael Oyedokun, as well as the death of another teacher, Adesiyan Adegboye.
AMCI further called on Muslims and residents of the state to offer prayers for the safe return of the abducted victims and comfort for the families of those who lost their loved ones.
