The Ede Elders Council (Igbimo Gbogbo Agbaagba Omo Ilu Ede), has commended the Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, for what the Council described as remarkable achievements in the physical transformation of the state, particularly through the construction and rehabilitation of road networks across the state.
The President of the Ede Elders Council, Alhaji Sulaimon Adebayo said Governor Adeleke has demonstrated visionary leadership and has proven himself to be a worthy son of Edeland whose performance has become a model for aspiring leaders.
He noted that the ongoing infrastructural development has improved connectivity, enhanced economic activities, and raised the standard of living of the people, stressing that such developmental strides deserve continuity by the Governor in a peaceful and stable political atmosphere.
Also as campaigns intensify ahead of the August 15, 2026 Osun State Governorship Election, the Ede Elders Council called on all political parties, candidates, supporters, and other stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully before, during, and after the election.
Alhaji Adebayo urged contestants to focus their campaigns on presenting practical and workable solutions to the socioeconomic challenges confronting the people of Osun State rather than engaging in politics of bitterness, violence, or personal attacks.
The elder icon gave this advice in a statement issued on Sunday, July 5, 2026, by the Publicity Director of the Ede Elders Council, Chief Dr. Ayodele Adeyemo, JP.
Reviewing the ongoing electioneering campaigns across the state, the Ede Elders Council’s President emphasized that ideas—not gangsterism, political thuggery, intimidation, hate speech, or intolerance of opposing views—remain the foundation of democratic governance. He urged political actors to embrace issue-based campaigns capable of inspiring public confidence and promoting sustainable development.
Alhaji Adebayo further appealed to traditional rulers, religious leaders, opinion leaders, community associations, youth groups, social media influencers, parents, and all lovers of Osun State to unite in promoting peace, tolerance, and mutual respect throughout the electoral process, stressing that peace remains the indispensable foundation for meaningful socioeconomic development and lasting prosperity.
Alhaji Adebayo recalled that the creation of Osun State was driven by a collective vision embodied in the enduring slogan, ” Okan Soso Ni Osun” (Osun is One). According to him, the spirit of unity, common purpose, and shared commitment that inspired the founding of the state should continue to guide its political leaders and citizens.
The Ede Elders Council therefore called on all eligible voters to exercise their civic responsibility peacefully and responsibly, while urging security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a free, fair, credible, and violence-free governorship election.
The Council concluded by reaffirming its commitment to peace, unity, and the continued progress of Osun State, expressing confidence that the State will continue on the path of sustainable growth when leaders and citizens place the collective interest above personal or partisan considerations.
