…..shines at TETFAIR and ASIP Innovation Programmes
The Federal Polytechnic Ede, Osun State, on Thursday in Abuja recorded another historic milestone, sweeping top honours at two national innovation programmes, clinching the prestigious title of Best Polytechnic in Research and Development of the Year 2025, at this year’s editions of Alliance for Innovative Research (TETFAIR) and the Academic Staff Incubation Programme (ASIP)
The two flagship initiatives are being funded by TETFund with technical support from Innov8 Hub.
This remarkable achievement has profoundly positioned the citadel
as one of Nigeria’s fastest-rising hubs for research excellence and technological innovation.
A statement by the Institution’s Acting Director, Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Sola Lawal, and made available to newsmen on Friday said the Polytechnic delivered an outstanding performance at the two events.
According to the statement, Powermantech Team Wins TETFAIR Market Validation Champion Nominated earlier in March 2025, the team, which comprises Mr. Saka Lukman Ayinde, Mr. Goodness Oreoluwa Edaogbogun, and Mrs. Ogunwusi Adebimbe Abosede are all from the Department of Physics and represented the Polytechnic among 11 innovators from higher institutions of learning across the country.
At the grand finale, the team emerged Market Validation Champion, securing the overall best position with their groundbreaking Smart IoT-Enabled Distribution Box. This innovation also earned the team a patent, marking the second successful patent recorded by the Polytechnic.
Also, the CoolTech Team from the institution emerged as ASIP 2025 Overall Pitch Champion, with impressive outing, the team was led by Dr. Ben Festus (Director of R&D), Dr. Yusuf Taliat Ola (Director, Rector’s Office), and Mr. Oke Timothy (Department of Physics)
Both teams received their prizes, certificates, and patent awards from the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arch. Sunday Echono, in the presence of other dignitaries, including:Dr. Salihu, Director of Research & Development, TETFundInnov8 Hub Management and Board Members Representatives of WIPO, NASENI, Rectors, as well as delegates from beneficiary institutions.
In the same vein, the Polytechnic, has won an institutional award as the Best Polytechnic in Research and Development of the year Award 2025 presented by the International association of research scholars and administrators (IARSA) at the Nigerian national merit award house, Maitaima Abuja.
Prof. Ogunsakin Akin who represented the organizers hinted that the Federal Polytechnic, Ede has consistently demonstrated a dedication to fostering a vibrant research environment, impressive groundbreaking technologies, and successful collaborations with industry’s national and international partners to enhance research capabilities and broaden its academic network, high-impact publications, facilitating collaborative projects and knowledge exchange.
He said,” The institution’s commitment to nurturing researchers and providing them with the resources and support necessary for success is truly commendable. Obviously, the Federal Polytechnic Ede’s commitment to research and development serves as an inspiration to other institutions and individuals, and we are confident that its continued effort will lead to further breakthroughs and advancements in the future”.
