The Coordinator, Cooperative Unit Eleyele, Ibadan of Special Marshals, RS 11.3 of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Oyo State Command, Special Marshal Joseph Igwe, has revealed the unit’s plans to put zebra crossing signs at Eleyele, The Polytechnic Ibadan and Sango areas of Ibadan, the Oyo state Capital.
Special Marshal Igwe made this known while speaking on activities of the command towards minimising road crashes.
According to the road safety volunteer, the zebra crossing signs would help reduce accidents especially around schools areas.
“The proposed Zebra Crossings would be put on three School site areas along Sango – The Polytechnic Ibadan – Eleyele Road to check over speeding drivers especially infront of school entrances along the road.” Special Marshal Igwe explained.
Special Marshal Igwe however implored road users to always abide by road safety rules and regulations to reduce road accidents on the state and across the country.
He said drivers need to avoid over speeding, obey traffic lights, ensure proper check of their vehicles and avoid drinking while driving.
Special Marshal Igwe also commended the Oyo State Special Marshals Coordinator, Pastor John Adegbotoluwa, for his exemplary leadership which has made the command very effective.
