An Osun state born cultural heritage revivalist, Prince Adewale Laoye says Nigerians deserve better livelihood, security and economic prosperity to address the current hardship in the country.
Prince Laoye, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Aafin Ilu, said this during a media interview in Osogbo shortly after being honoured with the 2024 Award of Excellence for Propagation of Culture,Tourism and Arts in Nigeria.
Popularly known as The Drummer of Peace, Prince Laoye noted that the current call for national protest which has been heating up the polity would not have been proposed if those in governments have been executing citizen-friendly policies, thereby making life abundant for the populace.
Dedicating the award to Nigerians resilience in the face of current economic downturn , the Prince of the late Oba Adetoye Laoye dynasty noted that leaders need to harness and use the wealth of the nation for people’s benefits and their right to secured life.
“It’s really hard work to be a Nigerian at this present moment. People are going through a lot, and we all deserve better for our leaders”, he said.
He urged government at all levels to do more in improving the economy and the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
The organisers of the Award appreciated the Yoruba music folk revivalist for his steadfastness in promoting arts, heritage, tourism, and culture using the talking drum in a creative and modern way.
Prince Laoye had earlier in 2021 been awarded by the National Body of APDON for his dedication to Yoruba cultural heritage preservation.
