Akinyele Market: The Putrid Eye Sore

Cleanliness is said to be next to godliness.
Alas! Akinyele Market along Ibadan-Oyo road is miles away from this maxim.
It is a haven of stench and putrid eye sores, as witnessed by the writer enroute Ibadan from Oyo on Thursday 7 March, 2025.
The fetid smells oozing from the rots along the road and environs of the market can make a man throw up.
The source of the horrid belle churning and nauseating stench are no other than the piles of refuse lining the roads, including the muddy soil.
What perhaps threw up the smell was the rain that fell on the previous day.
It was a consternation that the traders, public transporters and buyers could mill around the market oblivious of the threat the densely polluted environment constituted to health.
Worse still, this is a market where raw foods are sold.
Moreover, those who sell cooked foods equally are also in the putrid engulfed environment.
Does this not constitute a very grave threat to the wellbeing of people in the area?
If the level of putrefaction is this high with just an out-of-season rain, one can imagine what the risk level will be during rainy season.
This is why relevant authorities should visit the market and see the eyesore and do the needful.
