Reaching the age of 50, otherwise referred to as the “Golden Age” has been described as a mark of transition into a phase of life with potential for increased confidence, life satisfaction and a time to increase in one’s service to God and humanity.
Those were the words of family, friends and colleagues of a Dental Surgeon at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, Dr. Shakeerah Olaide – Gbadebo as they gathered at her Ajinde Estate, Oluyole Estate Extension, Ibadan, Oyo State to celebrate her 50th birthday.
The event which was well attended by the Amir and members of Minaret Islamic Family, Ibadan, featured prayers led by the Chief Imam Osun State University, Ejigbo Campus Dr Kazeem Kolapo for the celebrant and a moment of remembrance for her late husband who was the pioneer Amir of Minaret Family, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Adewale Gbadebo.
In their separate remarks, Dr. Kolapo and another member of the Minaret Family, Alhaji Audu Jimoh described the celebrant as a trusted and reliable friend, partner and family unifier.
The first daughter of the celebrant, Miss Adesewa Gbadebo, while speaking on behalf of her siblings, described their mother as the best among mothers.
Responding in an emotional laden expression, the celebrant, Dr. Shakeerah Olaide – Gbadebo who thanked Almighty Allah for making her to attain the golden age, narrated how much she had missed her husband.
Dr. Olaide – Gbadebo who noted that her journey has not been a stroll in the park, stated that her new focus now is how to leave an enduring legacy.
She appreciated the people that have been standing by her and her children over the years,as well as those who came to celebrate with her.
Highlights of the celebration include recitation from the Holy Quran, Special prayer for the celebrant and her family, and cutting of the birthday cake.
