All is set for the 120th anniversary celebration of Wesley College, Ibadan, Oyo State, with a series of events scheduled to commemorate the historic milestone.
According to a statement by the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Prof. Folusho Agunbiade, the weeklong celebration will begin on Monday, November 3rd, with a novelty match featuring different categories of old students at the school’s football pitch by 4 p.m.
On Tuesday, November 4th, a career talk will hold at the college’s Jubilee Hall by 10 a.m., followed on Wednesday, November 5th, by the Traditional Roll Call on Founder’s Day at the assembly ground. The day will also feature a security lecture slated for 10 a.m.
Activities continue on Thursday, November 6th, with a community service and medical outreach at 10 a.m., while a Jumat prayer will take place on Friday, November 7th.
The annual general meeting of the Old Students Association is scheduled for Saturday, November 8th, at 10 a.m. During the meeting, new executives will be elected, and new projects inaugurated. The day’s events will conclude with a dinner party and awards presentation at 4 p.m.
The weeklong anniversary celebration will climax on Sunday, November 9th, with a thanksgiving service at the college chapel by 10 a.m.
Prof. Agunbiade encouraged all old and current students to actively participate in the activities to honor the legacy of one of Nigeria’s oldest teacher-training institutions.
