Ede South Local Government Area Chairman, Lukman Afolabi, has called for unity, peace, and collective responsibility ahead of the 2026 political season, while expressing appreciation to Omo Adugbo stakeholders for their sustained support to his administration.
Afolabi made the remarks on Saturday, as he reaffirmed his loyalty to the administration of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, stressing that unity at the grassroots remains critical to sustained development in Ede South Local Government Area.
The council boss specifically lauded Barrister Taofeek Nagode for his unwavering support during his tenure as Caretaker Chairman, noting that their collaboration yielded tangible infrastructural outcomes.
He recalled that during the period when local governments were directed to construct 1.5 kilometres of roads each, both leaders jointly planned the projects that later transformed key areas of the council.
According to him, the Nagode–Akala Road was strategically selected and completed before it gained prominence, while the remaining allocation was used to rehabilitate the Orita Baba Seyi Otepe–Ajegunle Road.
He explained that the success of the projects was driven by synergy between the local government and the Osun State House of Assembly, particularly when Barrister Taofeek Olayiwola represented the area.
Afolabi further disclosed that despite financial setbacks arising from seized local government funds, his administration still delivered impactful projects, including the renovation of YTD School within the council area.
He described the intervention as part of his commitment to improving education and public infrastructure at the grassroots.
Addressing his absence at the previous Omo Adugbo programme, the chairman clarified that he was unavoidably absent due to a family bereavement encountered while returning from a wedding ceremony in Ilorin.
While encouraging residents to freely associate and celebrate cultural programmes, Afolabi cautioned against aligning with individuals or groups whose activities could undermine the leadership of Governor Adeleke.
He appreciated Mrs. Adewunmi Bamidele, popularly known as Iya Egbe Omo Adugbo and Olowobida, alongside all members of Omo Adugbo, for their continued cooperation and support.
