Man United have sacked Ruben Amorim following an explosive press conference at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon.
Darren Fletcher will take interim charge of Manchester United following Ruben Amorim’s sacking.
United confirmed Amorim had been sacked on Monday morning following Sunday’s draw with Leeds.
Amorim called out the board during his post-Leeds press conference, suggesting others should focus on their jobs amid rising tensions.
United secured a 1-1 draw at Elland Road thanks to a second-half Matheus Cunha equaliser, but the end of Amorim’s press conference overshadowed the performance in West Yorkshire.
The club statement confirming Amorim’s departure said: “Ruben Amorim has departed his role as head coach of Manchester United.
“The club would like to thank Ruben for his contribution to the club and wishes him well for the future. Darren Fletcher will take charge of the team against Burnley on Wednesday.”
Fletcher was appointed Under-18 manager in the summer but will now step up as interim boss for the first team. The former midfielder is expected to speak to the media ahead of facing Burnley on Tuesday.
