Olubadan Urges Media to Maintain Balanced Reporting

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja has urged journalists all over Nigeria to be fair in their reportage.

The appeal was contained in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Chief Solomon Ayoade during the courtesy visit by the Executive Members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo State Council on Tuesday at Olubadan palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan

“Desist from fake news, destructive journalism but instead embark on developmental journalism as practised in the developed countries of the world” Oba Ladoja stressed

“Gone are the days of pull him down journalism, in the modern days entails constructive information dissemination which is the order of the day through which peaceful co -existence, unity, progress and meaningful development can be achieved ” ,the monarch enjoined the men of pen profession

The paramount ruler later prayed for journalists in Nigeria for God’s protection, blessings and favour in the discharge of their duties

Earlier, the newly elected chairman of the Oyo State Council of NUJ, Comrade Akeem Abass appreciated the warm reception accorded him and his entourage by the Olubadan of Ibadanland

The Oyo NUJ Chairman called on other traditional rulers in Yoruba land and Nigeria as a whole to emulate the God given attributes of Oba Ladoja which include resilience, preservation of Yoruba cultural heritage,humility, simplicity, service to God and humanity ,lover of peace and his zeal for both human and material development

Comrade Abass assured Olubadan of the unflinching support of all journalists to move Ibadanland and Oyo State forward

According to the number one journalist in Oyo, the purpose of the visit was to pay homage to the 1st class oba in the state and to receive his royal blessings

The Chairman Of Oyo NUJ was accompanied by a member of the national trustee of NUJ, comrade Seye Ojo, the Vice Chairman comrade Abiodun Atilola,the Secretary Temidayo Adu, the treasurer Moses Morenikeji, the Chief of staff to the chairman, Khalid Imram, Rofiat Animosahun Olateju, Lekan Yusuf, Peter Ayoade and Sina Akinpelu

In a related development, the management staff of Forest Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN) led by the Director General of the Institute, Dr Tachana Buba,Managment of the Sun Newspaper led by the Managing Director/Editor – In – Chief Mr. Onuoha Ukeh,the Board of Directors of Independent Newspapers led by the Managing Director Steve Omanufeure and other directors also paid courtesy visits to Olubadan and pledged their support for the progress and unity of Ibadanland, Oyo State and our dear country Nigeria.
