The Chairman of Ede South Local Government Area of Osun State, Hon. Lukman Afolabi, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Late Chief Jonathan Adeleke, describing his death as a monumental loss to Edeland, the education sector, and humanity at large.

In a condolence message released on Friday on behalf of the local government, Hon. Afolabi paid glowing tribute to the late educationist, recalling his personal encounter with Chief Adeleke as a student.

“As one of Chief J. A. Adeleke’s students at Baptist Secondary School, I give thanks to God for the profound impact Baba made in our lives. His influence went far beyond the classroom, shaping our character and preparing us for meaningful service to society,” Afolabi stated.

He noted that the late Chief Adeleke was more than an educator to his students, describing him as a father figure and mentor whose guidance helped mould generations of responsible citizens.

“Baba was not just a teacher to many of us; he was a father figure who nurtured, guided, and inspired us to become useful individuals in our communities and the society at large,” he added.

Afolabi also extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and stakeholders in Edeland, particularly Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal Laminisa I, and the Ede Descendants Union (EDU), over what he described as the passing of a rare gem.

“I commiserate with Baba Timi, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal Laminisa I, the Adeleke family, the Ede Descendants Union and Ede Elders Council on the transition of this great educationist and community leader whose legacies of discipline, mentorship, and selfless service will remain evergreen,” he said.

He prayed for God’s comfort and strength for the bereaved family and all those affected by the loss, while urging the younger generation to emulate the virtues of integrity, dedication, and service exemplified by the late Chief Adeleke.

“May Almighty God grant him eternal rest and comfort all of us he left behind,” the statement concluded.
