The Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee, has advised members engaging in anti – party activities to desist from the act.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman, Hon. Dare Adeleke made the appeal during a stakeholders engagement in Ado Ekiti.
Hon. Adeleke who gave the advice emphasised strong cooperation among the PDP members was imperative to return the glory of the party and enable it return to power in Ekiti state.
He further explained that the caretaker committee would form a local government caretaker committee of 5-7 members for each local government, urging the members to eschew rancor and bitterness towards forming a formidable force as a major political party to wrestle the state from their rival.
His words: “I appreciate all the leaders and members of the different groups in Ekiti PDP for their steadfastness and the visibility provided for the party through their various groupings.
“However, starting today and as part of our standard declarations to instill further discipline across the board, to achieve lasting peace within the party, all public displays of groupings must end forthwith.“The CTC shall frown seriously and sanction anyone who is publicly using any group to create distractions within the party. Please, don’t be a victim of sanctions from the party.”
Speaking at the forum, Senator Biodun Olujimi urged the new leadership to restore the glory of the party.
According to her, “Without a platform, we cannot move forward. We must do what is right. Leadership is our problem. Everybody wants to be a leader. One of the major things you would do for us is to find a father figure. That’s the cause of our problem.“We have to be deliberate. Nobody should do anything outside the Chairman or we will fight the person. You cannot be talking for yourself alone but talk for the party to be a strong opposition. Give us a formula to reform this party.”
Highlights of the event were contributions from leaders representing each local government of the State.
They pledged to work for the progress of the party in their various local governments.
The stakeholders meeting comprised past political office holders, caretaker committee members, and leaders drawn from the 16 local governments.
