A Yoruba traditional Drums heritage curator, Prince Adewale Laoye has described the appointment of the new Oloro of Oro Kingdom in Kwara state,Oba Olaniyi Oyatoye, as a big opportunity and right steps towards projection and preservation of Yoruba Cultural tradition.
In a statement signed by him, Prince Laoye described Oba Oyatoye fondly known as ‘Baba Asa,’ as the right choice for the throne of his forefathers.
According to the statement, Oba Oyatoye was recently appointed by the Kwara state Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who also presented him with the staff of office at the coronation ceremony held in Oro, an ancient town in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara state.
The Ede,Osun State born Prince noted that Oba Oyatoye’s appointment marks the beginning of what many anticipated would be a transformative era for the Kingdom.
According to the Founder and CEO OF AAfin Ilu in Ede, Oba Oyatoye’s leadership is expected to drive new growth and development in reference to his background as a cultural advocate to strengthen the promotion of Yoruba heritage beyond his community.
Prince Laoye, who said he has been collaborating with Oba Oyatoye, through Aafin Ilu and Asa Day Worldwide Inc.,Canada, even before his new status expressed excitement about the monarch’s new role.
“Over the years, our partnership has focused on promoting Yoruba culture globally, with efforts to preserve traditional drums and all aspects of arts and culture.”Oba Oyatoye’s reign marks a significant step forward for the kingdom and the Africa community at large,” Prince Laoye remarked.
“His commitment to Yoruba traditions aligns with our vision at Aafin Ilu, and I am confident that he will bring prosperity, outstanding development and cultural pride to Oro.” the Prince also known as drummer of peace added.
Prince Laoye concluded by wishing the new Oloro of Oro, Oba Oyatoye a successful royal reign,hoping for many fruitful years on the throne that would bring meaningful development and progress to Oro Kingdom and its people.
