The Oyo State government in collaboration with UNICEF, ANRIN and other partners have flagged-off the second round of optimized maternal, newborn and child health week tagged OMNCH across the 33 local government areas of the state.
Speaking at the flag-off at Irefin, Baba-Isale, Primary Health Centre, Ibadan North East Local Government, Executive Secretary, Oyo State Primary Health Care Board, OYSPHCB, Dr. Muyideen Olatunji who was represented by the Director, Disease Control and Immunization, OYSPHCB, Dr. Johnson Osoko, noted that the immunization will feature deworming, supplementation of Vitamin A, screening for malnutrition, counselling and other healthcare services.
Dr. Olatunji noted that the initiative which is free and safe is a make-up process aimed at immunizing children between age 0-59 months, and for pregnant and nursing mothers who have missed the previous immunization process by the state government.
Also speaking at the event, Chairman Ibadan North West Local Government, Honourable Ibrahim Akintayo who was represented by the Local Government Supervisor for health, Honourable Adebisi Aderibigbe, urged residents to take advantage of the programme to ensure optimized health for their kids and wards.
Also present at the flag-off were representatives of collaborating organizations which include a team from United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, led by Mr. Samuel Olatunji, representatives of ARIN and National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA.
Also present is the Executive Secretary, Oyo State Agency for Control of AIDS, SACA, Dr. Lanre Abass.
