Tabernacle Worship and Prayer Ministry, California, has distributed food items to about 300 widows, people with disabilities and cash gifts of 5,000 naira each to 25 vulnerable individuals during an empowerment outreach in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The outreach also gave out four new wheelchairs to some people living with disability to ease their movement as well as a set of computer system to empower a less privileged individual.
In an interview, the Senior Pastor in charge of the Ministry and convener of the empowerment programme, Toyin Lawal, explained that the initiative was driven by a divine mandate to uplift the lives of widows and people with disabilities.
Pastor Lawal also used the opportunity to appeal to well-meaning Nigerians to join her in making life more abundant for widows people living with disabilities and the less privileged.
She emphasized that collective efforts can help create a better quality of life for these vulnerable groups.
In their goodwill messages, two veteran broadcasters,a former Director of News and Current Affairs,OdĂșn State Broadcasting Service,OSBC,Osogbo, Mr. Smollett Shittu – Alamu and Alhaji Tamim Najeemdeen commended the initiative, describing it as laudable and a model for others to emulate.
Mr. Shittu – Alamu and Alhaji Najeemdeen highlighted the importance of private-sector contributions in addressing social challenges.
Two of the beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation to Tabernacle Worship and Prayer Ministry for the support.
The beneficiaries also used the platform to urge the government to prioritize the welfare of widows and people with disabilities, noting that concerted efforts are needed to ensure sustainable life for the vulnerable group of people.
