The Holy Quran has been described as a universal manual from Allah to human kind for proper guidance to navigate life’s challenges and live meaningfully.
The Imam of Jagun Ilu Mosque, Iwo,Osun State, Ustaz Ismaila Omotayo made this assertion while delivering the 29th edition of Ola – olu Muslim Society of Nigeria, Annual Ramadan Lecture held at The Wings Schools Central Mosque, Iwo Osun State.
The lecture was organized in honour of the late Alhaja Mardhiyah Aweni Adelasoye Nurudeen Al Imam, who lived and died as a devout Muslim.
Speaking on the topic “Contemplating our world without the Quran”, Ustaz
Omotayo said the Holy Quran which was revealed to Prophet Muhammad is a guidance and an instrument that directs every aspect of human endeavors for worthy living.
The cleric however encouraged muslims to seek knowledge about what obligations Allah is expecting from them as contained in the Quran.
Earlier in his welcome address,chairman on the occasion, Dr. Musibaudeen Adelasoye appreciated Ola-Olu muslim society and the Group’s Adviser Prof. Lai Olurode for his efforts at uniting the people and uplifting their welfare
Speaking on behalf of the family, one of honorees ‘s son, Sheikh Faadil Nurudeen Al Imam, described their late mother as a woman of noble virtues, kind hearted, peacemaker and prayer champion.
In an interview with newsman, the Chief Adviser for Ola – Olu Muslim Society of Nigeria,Iwo, who was also a former INEC’s Federal Commissioner, Professor Lai Olurode, emphasised the need for all humankind to live a life of legacy that can impact positively on their communities.
Among dignitaries at the occasion included the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdul Rasheed Akanbi, the chief Imam of Iwoland, Sheikh Abd Mumeen – Thaaniy Akinlewa, Chairman, Ayekooto 88.3fm,Iwo, Osun State Engr Abdul Jeleel Aleem, represented by the Head of Programmes, Chief Toyin Olaiya, the Secretary, Ayekooto Communications, Engr Idris Abdul Jabar, former General Manager, Diamond FM, University of Ibadan,Dr Paul Emokhare and General Manager, Pensioners’FM, Ibadan, Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu.
Highlights of the event included distribution of copies of the Holy Quran, medical outreach, distribution of food items and prayer for Allah’s mercy on Iwo town,Osun State and Nigeria in general.
