Trailblazer Initiative Rallies Support for Period Friendly World

In commemoration of Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025, a passionate call has been made to stakeholders and philanthropists to support girls and women with access to menstrual hygiene education and materials.

The Executive Director of Trailblazer Initiative Nigeria, Dr. Dare Olagoke-Adaramoye, made the appeal during a sensitization at Pegba Community Secondary School, Ibadan.

The event aligned with this year’s theme: “Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld.”

Dr. Adaramoye highlighted that the initiative which engaged students in practical sessions, focused on menstrual health.

These included debunking common myths, demonstrating proper use of sanitary pads, and promoting hygiene during menstruation.

He noted that many girls in underserved communities still struggle with access to menstrual hygiene resources.

“Through this intervention, we’re not just promoting hygiene, we’re advancing dignity, health, and equal opportunity for adolescent girls,” he said.

He expressed profound gratitude to all donors and volunteers who made the event possible and called for continued collaboration to break the silence, end period stigma, and create a truly period-friendly world.

Earlier, Programme Officer, Trailblazer Initiative Nigeria, Mojisola Omotoye, emphasized that menstruation is natural, not a taboo.

Accordingly to her “It should be treated with dignity and understanding.”A key highlight of the day was a powerful and engaging playlet performed by the students themselves. The drama creatively communicated essential menstrual hygiene messages, helping to boost awareness, confidence, and peer-to-peer education on the topic.

As part of the outreach, free sanitary pads, generously donated by kind-hearted individuals were distributed to female students.

The gesture was aimed at helping girls manage their periods confidently and remain in school without disruption.
