UNICEF Begins 2-Day Training on Child Health Communication in Ibadan


A -2 Day Capacity Building of the Social Behavior Change Committee, SBCC to empower various stakeholders in child health related communication has opened in Ibadan, Oyo state.

The theme of the workshop holding at Oyo State Local Government Staff Training Centre, Secretariat, Ibadan, is “Deepening the Understanding of SBC Principles For Effective Cross – Sectoral Programme”.

Declaring the workshop open, the Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, represented by the Ministry’s Director of Digital Communication, Mrs. Aboyede Ojo, noted that at the heart of sustainable development lies the wellbeing of women and children.

Prince Oyelade added that women and children’s rights, safety, health and growth form the foundation upon which a prosperous society is built.

On her part, UNICEF Programme Officer, Oyo state Ministry of Information, Mrs Adeola Adewole highlighted the objectives of the workshop to include, Linking Understanding to Action, Enhance Skill in Evidence – Based Approach.

She said the objectives would equip various stakeholders with solid understanding of SBC concepts and to translate them into practical community – owned action that improve health and wellbeing of children and adolescents.

Welcoming the participants, UNICEF Programme Director, Oyo state Ministry of Information, Mrs. Bukola Bakare, explained that the workshop reflected the continued dedication of the Oyo state government to ensuring that information dissemination, advocacy, and community engagement remain effective tools for protecting the welfare of our people especially women, children, and vulnerable groups.

Mrs. Bakare encouraged the participants to contribute actively in discussions and come up with robust and workable outcome at the end of the Workshop.

Participants were drawn from various Ministries, Agencies, Community Development Groups, Traders and Artisans groups including the Iyaloja of Ibadan, Chief Iswat Ameringun and Media Professionals including General Manager, Pensioners’ FM, Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu.
