Former OSHA Speaker Emerges ADC Governorship Candidate

A former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Najeem Salaam, has been elected as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for the 2026 election in the state.

Salaam emerged unopposed during the party’s governorship primary held on Monday at the Ultimate Civic Centre in Osogbo, where delegates from across Osun State converged for the exercise.

A total of 528 delegates drawn from the state’s 332 wards participated in the primary. At the end of the voting process, 520 votes were recorded in favour of Salaam, while eight ballots were declared invalid.

Speaking after his emergence, Salaam thanked party members and leaders for the confidence reposed in him, describing the mandate as a call to service.

He pledged to work with stakeholders across the state to present a credible alternative to the electorate ahead of the 2026 poll.

The primary was conducted under the supervision of the party’s electoral committee chaired by Mr Emeka Nwajiuba which confirmed that the process complied with the guidelines of the ADC and relevant electoral regulations.
