LG Poll: PDP Ede North LG Endorses Amodu

The People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) in Ede North local government has named a former caretaker chairman, Hon.Taiwo Amodu, as the party’s candidate for the chairmanship election in the forthcoming Osun state local government election, slated for February 2025.

The party’s chairman in the Local government, Alhaji Sikiru Olayiwola, said this during the party’s weekly meeting held at LA Primary School, Agbongbe Area, Ede.

According to Alhaji Olayiwola, the decision was reached after a careful consideration of all the chairmanship aspirants by party leaders, stakeholders, and members from all the eleven wards within the local government.

He said Hon. Amodu’s political record, performance as a caretaker chairman and experience made him the consensus choice, with other aspirants agreeing to support his candidacy.

The party chairman encouraged other aspirants to rally behind Hon. Amodu, who emerged unopposed.

Alhaji Olayiwola also emphasised the need for unity, stating that collaboration among all aspirants is crucial for the party’s success at the election.

The primary elections for councillors have been scheduled for Saturday, August 17, 2024, across all the wards in Osun State, with the primary for the chairmanship position to follow on Monday, August 19, 2024.

Hon.Taiwo Amodu expressed gratitude to God and acknowledged the support of the key figures, including the Governor of Osun State, Asiwaju Ademola Adeleke, party leaders and members.

He pledged to continue his people-focused projects initiated by Governor Adeleke while promising to invest more in infrastructure, social amenities, health, education, agriculture, and empowerment initiatives.

Hon. Amodu reaffirmed that there were no factions within PDP in Ede North or across the state, asserting that the party remains united and will continue to govern the state for many years to come.

Hon. Amodu was accompanied by his wife, former cabinet members, their spouses, supporters from various wards, and other well-wishers to the meeting.
