An Islamic cleric, Dr. Sirajudeen Bilaal – AL – Asrau has advised Pilgrims to desist from act of showing off in their religious worship as it could reduce their rewards or nullify all worship activities.
Dr. Bilaal – AL – Asrau gave the advice during a lecture for Muslim faithful undergoing this year’s Hajj in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
He said that fixing golden or silver teeth should also be discouraged because it is not part of Hajj rituals as specified by the Holy Quran and the traditions of Prophet Muhammed.
He also decried the use of ‘ Alhaji or Alhaja ‘ titles to the names of Pilgrims after returning from the Holy land, adding that such behaviour is not acceptable in Islam, saying Hajj is a pillar of Islam like fasting, daily prayers and others.
The Islamic cleric noted that no names were attached while observing other pillars, hence Hajj should not be an exception as a spiritual exercise and not an element of showing off.
Dr. Bilaal – Al – Asrau also observed that most people fixed teeth to let people know that they have performed Hajj pilgrimage which could reduce their rewards in the long run.
The Iwo Osun State born Islamic scholar however urged Pilgrims to always purify their faith and intention before embarking on the holy journey.
